Laravel Envoy Task Runner

 Laravel Envoy provides a clean, minimal syntax for defining common tasks you run on your remote servers. Using a Blade style syntax, you can easily setup tasks for deployment, Artisan commands, and more.

I got to test this a few days ago and I think this is a brilliant feature. Previously I have been using Python and Fabric to handle all my deployments. Which is typically just a git pull but I like the fact that I can keep it in a familiar syntax.

Another benefit is this feature isn’t tied to laravel. You can use it in any code base. I have a few side projects that are on various setups and I’m going to be switching everything to use this.

Glad to see Laravel pushing forward!

Laravel Rocketeer

 Rocketeer is a deployment package for the PHP world. It is inspired by the Laravel Framework philosophy and thus aims to be fast, elegant, and more importantly easy to use.

I haven’t used this personally but it looks promising. One thing I am sure it does that I didn’t see is the ability to deploy to different environments such as development and production.

Laravel Convert HTML Strings to Translation Functions

 HTML String Affixer is a package for Laravel to make projects multilingual. This package finds text strings in HTML and replaces them with a localization function:

This tool can be used with any .jsx, .vue, or .twig file as well, with customizable file prefixes and suffixes. The package's main features include:

• Finds your HTML visible strings and replaces them with affixed one
• Prefix and Suffixes are customizable (default {{ __(' and ') }})
• If a string contains one of the warning characters, it will not replace but prints out the location:
• If a string contains one of the ignoring characters, it just ignores the string
• Ignore characters and warning characters are customizable from the JSON config file ("ignore" and "warnings")

This package supports configuration, which might look like the following JSON file:

Run operations once after deployment with Laravel

 You can use the One Time Operations package for Laravel to run code that should only run once after deployment. With this package, you can create operation classes that can be executed automatically using a provided Artisan command. Similar to migrations, they only get processed once and then never run again.

When you generate classes using this package's operations:make command, they use anonymous classes extending the OneTimeOperation class:

Using this package, you could update specific data after deploying new code, seed data after a migration, or run any type of code that you only need to execute once in tandem with a deployment. This package also provides the ability to test operations (run them multiple times without flagging them).
